My Fishes - Part 1

My tank now is in a mess. With so many fierce fishes in community, they are constantly chasing and fighting with each other.  Before the fins are damaged after the fight, I decided to take some shots before it is too late.  Hopefully they will leave my arowana alone…

A Dream Come True

After 7 years of planning, I have finally realised by dream of getting a customised cabinet tank for myself: a 6ft x 2.5ft x 2.5ft full sump setup tank!

This tank does not come easy. Brenda will only gives her blessing on the condition that I consolidate all my tanks in the house into a single big tank.  I contemplated for quite a while since I was keeping koi and arowana separately.  How am I going to convince myself to give up my koi pond?

All these changed when my pond faced a crisis and the majority of my previous koi were wiped out one by one within 2 months.  I have discovered the cause too late and were left with only 2 kohaku after I had remedied the problem.  So, what the hack, might as well give up the whole pond to realise my dream instead! haha!

Right now, I am still stabilising the tank and will upload more pictures of the finished product next week.  Stay tuned….

My Cousin Xiao Xuan’s Wedding

23 Jan 10 was definitely an auspicious day.  Not only did we attend a church wedding in the afternoon, we also attended another wedding dinner that night.  Best part was, both were my cousins’ weddings on the paternal side!

I only brought along my 50mm lens that afternoon.  Halfway through, the official photographer suddenly approached me and asked for trial of my lens.  In exchange, he swapped his Canon 85mm F1.2 and I was amazed at the results below.

First Day in Playgroup

It was Kayden’s first time going to school on 4 Jan 10.  Both of us took leave to make sure we accompany our lil’ one for his important first day at Playgroup!

We have enrolled Kayden for this playgroup 6 months ago.  We want Kayden to have a feel of school life and to experience group activities as he has been very shy and does not like to interact with other kids.  This might be the down side of him spending all his time with only us and the grandparents, but we have been reluctant to send him to a childcare.

The place is at Bishan PCF Education Centre.  This is one of the few PCFs where they offer playgroup to children under 3 yrs of age.

All the parents were trying to buy the PT attire on the first day of school.  The uniform was still not ready yet on the first day.

Kayden was still all smiles before going into the classroom.

We have to play a bit of tactics here.  As Kayden is usually more “sticky” to Brenda, I have to ask Brenda and my mum to go out of the classroom first while I continue to stay with him for a while.  Somehow, he was able to “see through” the plot and refused to let me go anywhere besides staying with him.  At one stage, I wanted to use “Daddy is going to the toilet” as an excuse but he quickly grabbed his bag and wanted to go out of the classroom.

After 1/2 hr, I was the last parent who was still inside the classroom.  All the soft talks were not effective and I had to force him to stay in the end while I just walked out of the classroom.  We could see him full of tears while the teacher tried her best to console him.  It was indeed very heartbreaking to see our lil’ one having to go through this stage.

When it was time to pick him up, we were being updated by the teacher that he required a one-on-one attention.  The situation got better after the 3rd day and he was crying less often, although he still refused to play with other kids as yet….

Christmas Celebrations 2009

This year was especially good.  Christmas was on a Fri and we get a half-day off on Christmas Eve.  A super long weekend for more celebrations!!!

We had a mini-gathering over dinner at our friend’s place on Christmas Eve in Sengkang.  Even before we reach the place, I had to run over a cement block lane divider just in front of the multi-storey carpark.  By the time I parked my ride, I realised the damage it had caused to the car as engine oil was leaking  all over the floor!  I had to seek professional help from my workshop and was lucky enough as the boss was still around at 7pm+ on Christmas Eve!

It was not easy to tow my ride down the multi-storey carpark as they have to jack up the front bumper in order not to damage the bodykit.  So much for a christmas eve celebration with a total repair cost of $600 (inclusive of towing service at $150)!

The rest of the night was good and managed to take some pictures of the kids.

We celebrated Christmas day at Jason & Jennifer’s place.  It is now considered a yearly event especially when they are such good hosts!

It was a short stay at their place as the kids need their afternoon naps.  For our case, we also need to prepare for the evening as we have a wedding dinner to attend.

I did not managed to take a lot of pictures as Kayden was a handful and need to take care of him.

On Sat, we had a mini-family gathering at my place in Punggol with dinner and gift exchange.
